He later obtained his PhD in Materials Engineering. The focus of his thesis was the high-temperature mechanical properties of aerospace coatings, centred on the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature and the high-temperature creep behaviour of a new generation of MCrAlY alloys. His research also involved the characterisation of metallic alloys through the use of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD).<\/p>\n<p>After further developing his expertise in metallurgy and metallography during his post-doctoral research, George investigated a new generation of advanced alloys for the nuclear industry.&nbsp;<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); background-color: initial;\">Following this, he joined Turbine Surface Technologies: a manufacturer of aerospace coatings that supplies Rolls-Royce. He worked as a process specialist in the thermal spray department, responsible for providing technical expertise and support for production. During his tenure, George led the development of new products, implemented continuous improvements, and conducted process failure investigations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>George has also worked with a precision engineering firm that manufactures precision metal components for the aerospace, automotive, and medical industries. Whilst here, George oversaw a project to develop new installation tooling before taking on responsibility for the company&#8217;s technical manufacturing specifications.<\/p>\n<p>George joined Hawkins in 2025 as an Associate in our Manchester office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>George Jackson is a mechanical engineer with Hawkins.
