We are delighted to announce that Neville Tranter<\/a> has been conferred the title of\u00a0Honorary Assistant Professor in Engineering\u00a0within the\u00a0College of Engineering and Physical Sciences\u00a0at the\u00a0University of Birmingham.<\/p>

This recognition reflects Neville\u2019s outstanding contributions to the field of engineering. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, having built a distinguished career in materials science<\/a> and engineering<\/a> failure analysis.<\/p>

Neville began his journey in engineering by earning a\u00a0BEng (Hons) in Metallurgy\u00a0from the University of Birmingham, followed by an\u00a0MSc in Forensic Engineering and Science\u00a0from Cranfield University. His early career included working as a Graduate Heat Treatment Engineer at\u00a0Wallwork Heat Treatment, where he developed expertise in hazardous environments, and\u00a0at Intertek Plc, where he managed Rolls-Royce\u2019s outsourced metallurgical laboratory. During his time at Intertek, Neville conducted over 100 metallurgical and failure investigations across sectors such as oil and gas, medical devices, rail systems, and consumer products.<\/p>

He later joined\u00a0Goodrich Corporation\u00a0as a Materials Engineer, focusing on aerospace actuation systems, before moving to\u00a0Hawkins, where he currently serves as a\u00a0Principal Associate\u00a0in the Birmingham office. At Hawkins, Neville has specialised in investigating engineering failures, including those involving gas turbines, construction materials, and power systems.<\/p>
